Thailand can be relaxing and total madness all at the same time, and my time in Thailand was no different. From the chaos of Bangkok to the beautiful jungles of Chiang Mai to the awesome beaches of Phuket, Thailand has something for every type of traveler. Try to make it out of Bangkok without being taken to a tailor shop or getting run over by a Tuk-Tuk…impossible!
Day 1 in Thailand was more than I expected. Being literally kidnapped by my tuk-tuk driver and taken to pretty much every tourist trap in town was something I should have seen coming. Paying a deposit for a suit I would never get? I didn’t see that one coming.
In my first day in Bangkok my Tuk-Tuk was almost run over by a truck, I was refused entry to a temple, and I was sort of kidnapped by my Tuk-Tuk driver and taken to a tailor so to try out a suit. Something was telling me that this trip was going to be different…
Situated in Northern Thailand, Chiang Mai has a relaxed and laid back atmosphere, and is the perfect spot to relax and spend a few days, especially if you’re coming from bustling Bangkok. Here you will feel in a more authentic Thai setting; the city with its day and night markets are wonderful places to spend the day. Get a foot massage to relax from a full day of walking at any of the parlors situated throughout the city. Try the Jungle Flight (zip-lining) through the jungle, go bamboo rafting, or go on a mountain trek and kidnap a pig for lunch (more on that later…).
