Welcome To My Travel Blog!

Like many, I have quit my job and left my old life behind to travel the world.

It was back in 2004 when I took my first solo backpacking trip. An amazing 2 months and a half trip which took me through South America. Little did I know at the time that this trip would shape and guide me for the rest of my life.

Having never traveled alone before, this backpacking solo allowed me to see the world in a new way, and gave me my first peek at what a life of pure freedom could be. Not having a schedule or itinerary, I was free to go anywhere I wanted and do anything I wanted for the first time in my life.

Upon coming back from that first trip, I found a job at a financial company where I worked for almost 11 years, a typical 9-5 desk job. I had a lot of vacation time which allowed me to go on many trips for extended periods. This only enhanced my need for travel and adventure.

But something was missing…..Each time I came back from a trip I felt that I had changed. Each time it was harder to come back. Each time I found myself missing the freedom and craving the adventure that I only experience when being on the road.

Most of all, I missed what my first backpacking trip gave me: a lifestyle of total freedom and choice. Luckily a trip to Tanzania in 2016 showed me that I did NOT have to be tied behind a desk all my life, and that I could turn travel into a way of life.

Now in my 30s I embrace the uncertainty and the unknown of life on the road. Life is too short to wait for the perfect time to start pursuing your dreams. Some may think that I’m escaping something, and some people say that I should “settle down”, and while I do travel to escape, it is that idea of a “normal life” that some have that I’m escaping from. Once I read a great quote which said: I do not travel to escape life, but rather for life not to escape me”, and it’s time to start living by it.

This blog is meant for travelers and people who wish to experience travel. It is a means for me to share my adventures (and misadventures), and to inspire and motivate others to live a life of adventure. The goal is to create a community and forum for travelers and those who wish to travel to exchange experiences, tips and other useful information for others to have.

I will only review places that I have tried and tested myself. All opinions (good and bad) about hostels, tour operators, restaurants, and more, are my own. I will add links to the places I’ve been when these are available. I will NOT comment or give recommendations of places that I have not been or tried  out myself.

I encourage readers to leave comments on every post blog and article I write. I will respond to every e-mail and question as soon as possible. You can also follow me on FacebookInstagram, TumblrTwitter, or Pinterest.

If you’re in the area I am feel free to drop me a line!!!  I always look forward to meeting other travelers who would like to share their story. You could be a featured blogger on this blog!
